2007 Atlas School of Dance Recital

6-22-07

The Atlas school of Dance has their recital. JW again brought me to places and things I have never seen before. I have never seen dance recital at this level. The youngest dancer is younger than three to four years old. The oldest (approx.) 80 years old. All enjoy dancing. Dances include classical dances like Ballet to modern dance such as hip hop and dances modified from eastern culture. The skill level of dancers are diverse. Some are highly skilled some are learning where to stand. Female to male dancers ratio is closer to 10 to one. Parents and friend shout out the name of the dancer they support before each dance. Anne Marie said it remind her of a soccer game.
JW House is their designated charity. Gail has been helpful in introducing JW house to the School.
The program was long. There were six pages of dances. By the time we got done it was over ten pm at night. I enjoy seeing the dances. I enjoy seeing how happy the dancers were when they entertained us.

Mission City Community Fund Barbecue

I, Mrs. Knapen, Helena, Elizabeth, Alexander, Paul, Mary and Mrs. Prapong attended the Barbecue. It was a celebration of all the organization that received grant from the Mission City Community Fund. We met people who worked for the Triton Museum. One of them is their developmental director. She said she would give us leads for other fund applications.
Speaking of Triton Museum it brings back warm memory. That's where we had our first big event. JW's art show was held there. That was one of the best event I ever went to.
Back to the Barbecue. There was a raffle held and one of us won a binocular. There will be another auction by the community fund going to be held in November which is for a G35. I bought a ticket - the winning ticket

2007 Golf tournament

The golf tournament committee was busy at work for over 6 months. This included recruiting committee member assign tasks. Many of the previous years helper came back to help.
Recruiting for volunteer went over well. Many people volunteered. Grant and his family came to help.
This year we have less golfers than last year. Luckily, we got a deal from the golf course. The golfers that came are all great supporter of our cause. Last but not least we have Geni who did a great job in getting great prices for our auction.
I love playing Cinnabar Hill. It is a wonderful golf course. My ankle was hurting the week before the golf tournament. I decide to play anyway. The ankles stood up well. I was limping the next few days. I decided to see a physical therapist for it. I told her that I want to continue to exercise. I cannot do anything with this ankle. I think I got the message from her - bear it. Its not going to change.

Back to the tournament. The auction went well. Our supporter really open up their wallet. We did well.

I participated in the auction as well. I was very happy to get a few items.

Another thing we did well this year was controlling the time. We got out before 8 pm. That was wonderful.

Debra our tournament director stayed and clean up. We were the last person to leave. Thanks Debra.

2007 Derek Toste Dinner

This is the Third Annual dinner hosted by the Tostes and their family. It is a dinner in honor of their son Derek. All the proceed would be given to the JW House.

We had dinner with close to 300 people. Then there were dancing. Anne Marie gave a talk which I missed because I left when the dancing began.

I want to thank the Tostes for doing so much for JW House.

Construction up dates

Some brushes were taken down and the first piece of heavy equipment arrived. Cannot wait for the actual building of the house.

The operation committee has been hard at work to prepare for the opening next year.

The golf committee is doing a wonderful job in getting the golf tournament ready. There are so many volunteer that we have all the opening filled before the tournament.
